Our challenge
The UK care industry has been facing the challenge of understaffing recently; since Covid 19 vacancies have risen from 6% in April 2021 to 11.5% in December 2021.
Vacancies across the sector generally have also risen and were at 9.4% in December 2021*. This leads to unavoidable high-cost agency use as well as the rise of bad actor intermediaries and the risk of exploitation of independent migrants** who want to become care workers. Perceived complications in the process of hiring overseas workers are a stumbling block to many.
